1) Run Time Machine backup

  1. Connect backup disk and open System Settings → General → Time Machine.
  2. Click Back Up Now and wait for completion.

2) Export key data

  • Export password manager vault or emergency kit where supported.
  • Record licence keys for paid apps.
  • Confirm iCloud Photos/Documents sync status.

3) Prove backup is usable

Enter Time Machine and restore one test file before starting upgrade.
